Unlike the large majority of the alternative investment world, for deal by deal doers, the constrained fundraising environment has been a blessing.
Having been presented with a deluge of co-investment opportunities and side letters, yet still hesitant to invest large tickets in funds, LPs have been ramping up their direct investment activities. As they do more of these deals, they’re seeing the benefits and are hungry for more.
And for family offices, historically the most active supporter of the deal by deal strategy, a changing mindset is also leading to greater allocations. With increasing levels of sophistication, these investors are vying for more control across a diversified range of deals.
