Deepfakes, real threat

As AI tools rapidly become more sophisticated, the ease with which cyber criminals can harness the technology increases in lockstep. For private capital funds, the threat presented by deepfakes is scarily real.
The rapid advancement in AI comes with as many threats as it does opportunities. Nowhere is this truer than in cyber attacks and security.
Where it used to be relatively easy to spot a phishing attack; basic training being sufficient to equip most people on the giveaways of nefarious emails, today, cyber-attacks are much harder to spot.
“Individuals with limited technical skills are now launching highly sophisticated campaigns against organisations. They leverage a wide range of publicly available resources to craft their attacks, making them much more difficult to detect,” explains Dee Parekh, head of cyber and IT infrastructure at BGF.
