While in recent years, it might seem as though some fundraises have been never-ending, Rewire Partners founders Sarah Clarke and Anika Randawa Scott, believe the key to successful fundraising is to remain in sales mode, regardless of the fundraising cycle.
In this interview, Clarke and Randawa Scott detail the genesis of Rewire Partners and the common challenges faced by IR teams in a persistently difficult fundraising market.
The Line: How did Rewire come into existence?
Sarah Clarke: Anika and I have known each other for several years, though we were aware of each other’s work much earlier. We had ongoing discussions about private equity and investor relations, particularly the growing importance of relationships in successful fundraising.
In the early days of placement, relationships were crucial as decisions were often made by very senior individuals. These connections, facilitated by placement agents, were essential for securing meetings.
